Who is Koenigplatz Kennels?

Bred With Heart - RR Bred With Heart - Lhasa Apso

Welcome to Koenigplatz Kennel.  My name is Eric King.  My wife and I am the owners of Koenigplatz Kennel.  KoenigPlatz Kennel is a small breeder of Rhodsian Ridgeback, Lhasa Apsos, and Collies located in Greensboro, North Carolina (NC). We are approximately 1 1/2 hours from Charlotte and 1 hours from Raleigh / Durham area. We only try to breed a litter about once every 18 months to two years.  The dogs in our breeding program often compete across a number of canine disciplines. These include conformance, obedence, Rally, Agility, and tracking.  Koenigplatz Kennels prides in trying to breed great temperment also into our dogs.  Several of our dogs are certified Therapy Dogs and active in the community.

We also strive to breed healthy dogs . Koenigplatz Kennel strives to exceed the breeding guidelines and standards set out by the parent clubs - Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of The United States (RRCUS), Lhasa Apso Club of America (ALAC) and the Collie Club of America (CCA). All dogs in our breeding program are health tested for the issues according to their breed.  As an example we test for hips, elbows, cardiac, Thyroid, DM, CERF and BAER at a minimum for Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Also, I am the President of the Furniture City Kennel Club and a member in good standing with the RRCUS(Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of America), CCA(Collie Club of America), and ALAC(American Lhasa Club of America).  We are also member of the Mid-Atlantic Hound Club, and the Piedmont Collie Club.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks

We currently only have one Rhodesian Ridgebacks - Lucy.  Desmond  passed away in 2021 and was a well known Ridgeback.  He was SELECT DOG at the 2017 RRCUS National Show in Portland, OR .

Lucy  is now 7 years   old.    She has acheive quite a bit had to litters of RR puppies producing three Grand champions.

We also co-own one of Lucy's puppies, Calli.  We are hoping for RR puppies early 2025.  

Lhasa Apso

We now have several Lhasa Apso dogs.  Landry was first our Lhasa Apso dog. We have had Landry for over 17 years. Landry has great temperment and the love of my wife.  He recently passed away.

We know have three Lhasa Apso roaming the house. Our foundation bitch is Saana, a Chic Choix Lhasa from Finland. We also have two other Lhasa Apso - Emmitt and Layla

Collie

My wife was raised by a tri-color collie named Foxx. So we were bound to have collies in our household. Daisy was our collie bitch. We got Daisy from Highcroft Collies, a breeder in Minnesota. Daisy recently passed over the rainbow bridgr in 2022.

We also aqcuired another collie from Highcroft Collies. His name is Zephyr. He is a tri-color male collie. He also have a new blue merle collie, Roxie. 

We recently got another blue merle collie, Roxie.
